DaShana Jelks is Chief Financial Officer (on staff since December 2020) for YWCA Central Alabama, whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Jelks, an Alabama native, is a proven accounting executive with more than 30 years of public, governmental and nonprofit accounting experience. She previously served as director of finance for Grady Health Foundation where she managed more than $70 million in governmental and private funding. Her previous roles included financial services consultant, vice president of finance/CFO for Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers in Atlanta for 14 years and accounting manager for the Philadelphia Housing Authority.
At Faulkner University she earned a master’s degree in business administration and management, and she graduated from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
She currently serves on the Alabama Association of Nonprofits Board of Directors and is a member of the Alliance for Black Women Accountants and the Association of Non-Profit Accountants and Finance Professionals.
DaShana is the mother of Marlon, an avid soccer player and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
