RaSheda Workman is Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Central Alabama, whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
The Board of Directors of YWCA Central Alabama is delighted to announce that RaSheda Workman has been elected CEO of the organization, effective August 12, 2024. Workman says, “Improving quality of life for underserved and marginalized communities has been the hallmark of my professional career. With more than 20 years of success across the nonprofit and government sectors, I am beyond thrilled to serve Birmingham and surrounding communities as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for YWCA Central Alabama.”
Previously serving as the Executive Director of Government and Community Relations at Stillman College, Workman has also worked alongside Rep. Terri Sewell as her Financial Director/Executive Director and Former Rep. Artur Davis as District Policy Advisor/Outreach Coordinator. Most recently she was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to serve as an executive committee member of the Alabama STEM Council. Workman has also served as an Adjunct Professor and Director of Community-Based Partnerships at The University of Alabama, Director of Outreach at HERO Family Resource Center, and taught middle and high school science in Hale County, Alabama. Workman has an extensive background in fund development, strategic planning, and a lifelong understanding of what it means to be an active, effective leader in her community. The YWCA is excited to welcome her to our team.
