Happy Halloween from your YW family! We had a spooktacular time celebrating at our annual Fall Festival, put on by the YW Junior Board and a host of volunteers. The gym was filled with little princesses, superheroes and ghosts who got a chance to dress up and enjoy a cake walk, football toss and several other activities.
The festival fully transforms the gym into a site of celebration with tons of games, candy and a huge inflatable bounce house. It also offers the children served through our two child development programs, KIDS Korner and Calico Corner, and our After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) a break from everyday worries and cares.
The YW’s child development programs and ASEP serve homeless and low-income children who may not otherwise get to enjoy these activities. The festival invites them to wear their costumes while they enjoy food and games like Go Fish and Ghost Bowling. Some of the kiddos even took the opportunity to get their faces painted and decorate cookies. The YW’s Family Resource Center in Woodlawn also hosts an exciting fall festival for the families living in that neighborhood.
The support of the YW’s Junior Board of Directors is an integral part of the event’s success. Not only do they help sponsor and coordinate the event, but they also assist with decorating, working the game stations and cleaning up. We appreciate their commitment and look forward to what next year will bring! To learn more about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, please visit https://ywcabham.org/get-involved
