I was raised in a middle-class family. And, although I didn’t attend one of the nation’s top private schools, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend one of the top public schools in the state. Until I viewed “American Promise,” I had never considered the things that I lost as a result of attending a school with an overwhelming majority of white students.
