BBJ Recognizes CEO Dr. Magras

YWCA Central Alabama CEO named a finalist in Top CEO Awards

Dr. LaRhonda Magras, YWCA of Central Alabama CEO, was named a finalist for the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2020 Top Nonprofit CEOs. Over 100 people attended the virtual award ceremony on Dec. 3, 2020.
Magras was among 35 finalists recognized in categories ranging from large, medium, small-size companies to nonprofits in Birmingham. They were chosen for outstanding leadership in 2020. Magras was one of five finalists in the nonprofit category.
The annual event is devoted to recognizing excellence among top executives in the Birmingham-area business community whose leadership has helped their companies achieve growth and success through strong financial performance, tangible results, and achieved goals. These leaders are involved in the community and play critical roles in the success of their businesses and organizations.
“This year has not been one for the faint of heart,” said Maggie Brooke, YWCA Board President. “Dr. Magras has led the YW with grit and grace during this tumultuous time that included a global pandemic, racial unrest, and uncertainty for nonprofits across our community and nation. She is truly remarkable, not allowing the challenges of this year to deflate her passion and enthusiasm for the mission, the work, or the staff.”
