Transitional Housing for Single Women (With Dependents)

The YWCA maintains partially furnished, two-bedroom apartments in downtown Birmingham. Monthly rent, which includes utilities, varies by income but does not exceed $350.00. Each two-bedroom apartment unit includes a galley kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and sink and a private bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower. Community laundry machines are located on each floor.

Transitional Housing for Single Women (No Children)

The YWCA has partially furnished one-bedroom apartment units and four partially furnished efficiency units in downtown Birmingham for transitional residence. Each unit includes a galley kitchen and private bathroom. Community laundry machines are located on each residential floor. Rent, including utilities, varies by income but does not exceed $275.00 per month.

Eligibility:

Single females with dependents, Single females with no dependents, at least 19 years of age, Must receive an annual income of $7,000 for one-bedroom, and $11,000 for two-bedroom. The applicant’s income may not exceed applicable income limits designated for this property; these income limits change annually and are based on HUD income limits for the area and household. Applicant is also currently homeless as a result of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking; for whom emergency shelter services or other crisis intervention services are unavailable or insufficient. No male children over 12 years of age.
