YWCA Central Alabama’s Family Resource Center is now hosting GED preparatory classes. The GED test offers those who did not complete high school the opportunity to earn high school credentials. If an individual’s GED test scores are satisfactory, an official High School Equivalency Diploma will be awarded by the state of Alabama.
This credential is considered equivalent to a high school diploma and is recognized as such by employers, the military, and colleges. Those age 18 and over are eligible, while 16- and 17-year-olds may take classes if they meet specific requirements set by the state of Alabama. Strengthening families and increasing economic empowerment through quality educational opportunities is a key aspect of YWCA Central Alabama’s work. To learn more, call 205.949.5550 email FRC@ywcabham.org.
