Latasha J. Humphrey, a Chicago native; who, for the most part, grew up in Birmingham and Hoover, is the Director of Family Resource Center of YWCA Central, whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Latasha has over 20 years of experience working with women, girls, and youth, including vulnerable populations plus she has worked for and served with several foremost organizations in Alabama’s public and private sectors, developing alliances with many of Alabama’s influential elite. Latasha served as an AmeriCorps member and was instrumental in establishing the YWCA Family Resource Center, where Latasha co-managed impactful programming within the community at large. She also helped lead the life-changing teen enrichment, paid internship program, CREW (Creating Responsible Educated Working Teens). Fast forward to 2021, she was vital in creating the new innovative YWCA’s hybrid CREW and CREW Alumni Network programming today.
Since 2018, Humphrey has worked full-time at YWCA in a few key roles spearheading transitions to overseeing all of the organization’s youth development programs in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area, including Jefferson, St. Clair, and Blount counties. She oversees programming and initiatives for youth and families through three focus areas: Adult Empowerment, Youth Enrichment, and Community Engagement.
In 2017, Latasha penned her first published book, This Relationship Matters 7 Keys To Building Healthy Mother-Daughter Bonds (A Mother’s Perspective), and in March 2020, she released her second book, Phoenix Burns To Rise, a beautiful, relatable, written piece of art that details how betrayal can lead to freedom. In 2022, she was recognized by the City of Birmingham’s StrongHer campaign as an honoree.
Latasha has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science degree in Human Services, specializing in the Management of Nonprofit Agencies.
