Lisa E. Florence, born and raised in Birmingham, is the Community Housing Director for YWCA Central Alabama, whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
In 1994, Lisa attended the University of Alabama Special Studies Program when she was recruited by the Executive Assistant at the time to interview for a position at the YWCA. That was over 25 years ago. During her tenure, she has worked in several program areas, including Administration, Human Resources, Domestic Violence Services, Compliance, and Community Housing. Her current role in Community Housing has afforded her the opportunity to provide supportive, safe, affordable housing options to those who seek this very basic need. She believes in being a strong ally and advocating for those in need of services offered by the YWCA.
Lisa is a wife, mother of four, and “Gigi” to one grandson. Her mantra is “Live life to the fullest, and if the shoe fits…buy one in every color.”
