The YWCA Central Alabama was honored by Wells Fargo with a $1,000 grant at the company’s Days of Giving ceremony at the Birmingham Zoo on September 18, 2012. The event was hosted by Mid-South Central Area President George Trible and Area Business Banking Manager Jim Richardson.
The donation to the YW is among hundreds of contributions, each for $1,000, to nonprofits across the Mid-South made at community events.
“These unrestricted dollars will allow us to continue to help the community,” said Area President, George Trible. “With the economy still suffering, the money couldn’t come at a better time.”
This grant continues a longstanding relationship between Wells Fargo and the YWCA. The bank has not only supported the YW’s annual event for many years, but it has also made two significant contributions to our capital campaign: Strengthening Our Families, Strengthening Our Communities. Their gifts have made a direct impact in YWoodlawn, the YWCA’s multi-phased neighborhood revitalization effort in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Birmingham.
“A hallmark of Wells Fargo is local decision-making and local involvement,” said Area Business Banking Manager, Jim Richardson. “Through Days of Giving we’re connecting with local communities in a whole new way.”
“The YWCA and the community as a whole are indebted to Wells Fargo and Paula Beck, Community Affairs Manager for the Southeast, for their care and concern for those we serve,” said Suzanne Durham, CEO of the YWCA Central Alabama.
The YW was nominated to receive a Days of Giving grant by our friends at the Trussville branch of Wells Fargo and was then selected by frontline employees of the company for the honor.
“We know the needs continue to be great across our area, especially now,” added Trible. “This is a new way to help more people and more groups that we haven’t been able to reach in the past.”
